At Newton Primary School we follow the following fundamental principles of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice, which are:

  • a child with SEND should have their needs met;
  • the SEND of children will normally be met in mainstream schools or early education setting;
  • the views of the child and their parents will be sought and taken into account;
  • children with SEND should be offered full access to a broad, balanced and relevant education, including an appropriate curriculum for the Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.

Please find a useful document explaining how our school identifies pupils with Special Educational Needs and how those needs are met along with advice on what to do if you have any concerns about your child in this area.
